The Face Shop Designing Eyebrow Pencil | Swatches and Review

I feel like I’m never going back to Sephora for brow products ever again because I found out great ones from Korean brands. It’s not the first time I’m trying out The Face Shop’s Designing Eyebrow Pencil so I had a pretty good amount of time to actually try it and compare it to other brow products. Brows are the one thing I always put on because if not, I know I would look like a 15-year-old boy. I finally moved on from the Benefit Goof Proof and trying out something new! Let’s go on and have a closer look at the pencil. Note that I will mostly compare it to the Goof Proof just for reference.

PACKAGING

So it has double ended plastic packaging like the usual. A lot less of quality compared to the other brow products I’ve tried. I notice that the caps crack easily at about 3 months of use. The product is on the other end and the spoolie on the other. It has 0.3 grams which is just about the same as the Goof Proof which has 0.34 grams.

PRODUCT ITSELF

Texture

It’s a lot stiffer and waxy than others so one stroke would just give you a light shade of colour. Basically, it doesn’t have much pigment pay-off and not creamy at all (which is a not a bad thing for brow products!) With that being said, I notice that I use a heavier hand when using this compared to when I’m using the Goof Proof. I like making the inner/front parts of my brows lighter than the rest of the brows. This product is perfect for that because it delivers the perfect amount of product without being too heavy.

I would say that the texture is a lot like the Anastasia Brow Whiz which is less creamy that the Goof Proof.

Colours

top to bottom : 04, 03, 02

It only has 5 colours. I picked up 02 Gray Brown, 03 Brown, and 04 Black Brown only because I’m not sure what kind of brown I am. Lol. The colours are very close to each other so I don’t think I’ll mind using one or the other interchangeably.

Longevity

It stays long enough throughout the day. Wouldn’t say it’s budge-proof or waterproof though.

Shape

New tip

Used tip

This is probably the only thing that’s a bit of a letdown. Once you use it after the first time, it loses its sharpness. So naturally, it’s going to have a rounded, circular tip. That shape makes it a struggle to draw a defined line. I find that I always have to wipe off product just to get my desired sharp eyebrow tail.

Price

A whopping C$6! That’s affordable compared to the Goof Proof which is C$32 and Anastasia’s Brow Definer which is C$30!

PROS

  • Waxy and hard
  • Buildable pigment
  • Very Affordable (C$6)
  • Long lasting

CONS

  • Low-quality packaging; cracks easily
  • Shape of the tip makes it hard to draw defined lines

I think I have a new favourite! For its price? I think this beats all other brow products!

Hope this was helpful!

Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volume Mascara | Review

After a week of testing out this brow gel, I finally have my thoughts settled!

I was lucky enough to be one of the 180 people who got picked to receive this Influenster VoxBox! I think everyone got one product out of the few new launches Maybelline had. This is exciting since it’s my second time to receive a VoxBox! Hooray free stuff!

So how was the product? Continue reading

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil

Benefit has been in the brow game for years but it never really stood up for me until now. They released new products with packaging that are much more attractive! I’m in love with the circus-themed silver packaging of all their brow products! I picked up the Goof Proof Brow Pencil and without a doubt, the product itself is good too! Let’s all get into the details!

All About The Brows

Brows are very subjective and it isn’t supposed to be perfect. I don’t even know what a perfect brow looks like! My perfect brow might not suit your face, and your perfect brow might not suit somebody else’s face.

It took me a few years to “perfect” my brows, and by “perfect” I mean I’ve achieved contentment and a routine when I do my brows. Most likely, my ways will evolve and change as I get older.

I am not an expert with makeup and I can’t tell you how you’re supposed to do yours. It’s makeup. It comes off at the end of the day.

This post is to let you guys know how I personally do my own brows while hoping to help some of you in finding your personal brow style. Let’s start?

HOW I FIGURED OUT MY BROW SHAPE

I had my brows groomed once in my life (about 8 years ago, I think). Ever since then, I’ve just been alternately plucking and shaving to the shape that the groomer made. I haven’t gone to a professional since then and I haven’t felt the need to. If you don’t like spending time and money on your brows (just like me), I would suggest going to an expert to have them shaped properly, at least once. You can just clean up on the new hair growth and maintain the shape for as long as you want. (At least that’s what I did! )

LET’S START DRAWING!

Bare

Look at them bare and uneven. Haha Even my eyes are uneven! Let’s move on from flaw-pointing and start sketching!

  1. Create a triangle for a sharp brow tailDSC01304
  2. Fill it ins
  3. Connect-the-dots(hair) while drawing a straight line using tiny strokes going towards the nose.DSC01308
  4. I go back into the product and dip my brush to make the arch and tail a little darker than the rest of the brow. This creates depth.
  5. I just follow my natural brow shape and continue to fill in. There is a lot of room for mistake because brow products are more forgiving than eyeliners. I just wipe it with my finger when I make a mistake!DSC01311
  6. By this time, the brush should have the slightest amount of product. This is the best time to go in and fill the inner part of the brow. This gives a lighter shade to soften the look. DO NOT go back and dip it into the pot if you want “natural” looking brows (ombre effect? Lol). I prefer to put the least amount of product on that part because I don’t want it to look too strong. As shown in the picture above, I pretty much stop filling from that point because I want my natural brow hairs to show up.DSC01314
  7.  I’m done by this point, but if I feel like it, I will apply a tinted brow gel on the inner parts of my brow to make it appear more bushy. #CaraDelevingneBrows But apparently, that is impossible and unachievable on my part. *cries. DSC01320

After brushing it through with a spoolie, we are finally done. Let’s zoom in.

DSC01323Feel free to highlight the brow bone or apply a little concealer to clean up and make the brows “pop”. 😉

PRODUCTS I REGULARLY USE

DSC01368

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade
  • ColourPop Brow Colour in Bangin’ Brunette
  • ColourPop Brow Pencil in Bangin Brunette
  • Loreal Brow Stylist Definer in Brunette
  • Milani Easy Brow Tinted Fiber Gel

A few notes:

  • On this post, I used the ColourPop Brow Colour but the process would be similar if I were to use a pencil.
  • Putting on an eyeshadow primer before doing your brows would prolong its wear and make it last all day.
  • I know people have been asking for a video, but I still couldn’t get myself to film! One day. Lol

Hope this helps! Thanks for dropping by! ❤️

DUPE for Anastasia Brow Wiz

DSC_0931

This does not come as a surprise since a lot of drugstore brands has stepped up their brow game and I am very pleased about that. I feel like Anastasia has set the bar high on brow products and I compare everything to it.

I told myself I wouldn’t buy another Brow Wiz because I finished it in about a month. That’s 27 hard earned dollars for one skinny pencil. I was very happy when I found cheaper alternatives like this one.

COMPARISONS

Size/Amount

As the pictures suggest, the L’Oréal has a skinnier tip.

But apparently both of them have 0.003 oz.

Pigment

L’Oréal puts more pigment in one swipe. It is more creamy than the Brow Wiz but it’s not too creamy like an eyeliner would be.

Anastasia needs two swipes to achieve the pigment of L’Oréal in one swipe but I like it better because there is more room for mistakes. A heavy hand wouldn’t be a problem since it applies lightly and apt for a more feathery brow look (which I am digging!).

Packaging

Both have the same concept of a double ended product and spoolie.

L’Oréal wins it for this one because of the clear cap on the spoolie side. Is it just me or am I really bad at figuring out which side the spoolie is on?!

Price

L’Oréal C$8.99 (I got in on sale at the Superstore)

Anastasia C$27

That’s more than double! L’Oréal definitely wins this category!

Colour Selection

Unfortunately, L’Oréal only has 3 shades in their range: Blonde, Brunette, and Dark Brunette.

I picked up Brunette and noticed that it is very similar, just a little warmer, than Anastasia’s Medium Brown.

anastasiabrowwizdupe

I don’t know if you notice but the Anastasia one is a tiny bit cool toned.

For the price point, I think the L’Oréal Brow Stylist Definer is a good alternative/dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz.

I heard the new Nyx Micro Brow Pencil also comes as a close dupe for the Brow Wiz. That’s probably next on my list once I finish both of these!

Do you guys know other brow products that coud be a dupe to the Anastasia Brow Wiz? Let me know!
