Dry Shampoo Series #1: COLAB Sheer + Invisible Dry Shampoo London

I had no idea what dry shampoos were before I landed on the beauty world. Now they are starting to be one of the essentials.

I have an oily scalp and dry ends that’s why I wash it every other day. Dry shampoos come in on days between washes so once I hit it the 3-day mark, my hair would be impossibly greasy and itchy.

This series will feature different brands of dry shampoos, each with detailed reviews, and a score out of 5.

First on the roster…

COLAB Sheer + Invisible Dry Shampoo London 200ml

Musky. Smells a bit like chemicals but not too strong. It does have the usual smell like all the dry shampoos.

TOP: Bergamot & Rose
HEART: Rose, Violet, Magnolia & Jasmine
BASE: Woody, Amber & Musk

The scent stays on all day and keeps hair smelling fresh.

As the label says, it comes out sheer and invisible unlike other dry shampoos that leave a white cast/powdery film on the roots. Having said that, it also doesn’t leave that residue that usually makes it itchy and uncomfortable.

I love this dry shampoo because it’s very effective on making my hair feel fresh, clean and non-greasy. It’s light-weight and it feels like I just washed my hair.

This dry shampoo was created by Ruth Crilly from the Youtube Channel A Model Recommends

If you live in Toronto, you can get this at Rexall, some Shoppers Drug Mart, and at Phoenix Beauty Store in Pacific Mall.

Overall, I give this dry shampoo a score of 4.5/5 because it is great and does the job of keeping my hair fresh without weighing it down or leaving so much dry shampoo residue. I deducted 0.5 just because of the scent. I don’t love it but I don’t hate it either. I have yet to try other scents from the COLAB line and maybe give this a 5 when I find my perfect scent.

Stay tuned to see what’s next on the Dry Shampoo Series!

Favorite Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayons (Lip Swatches + Review)

I want to share with you guys my favorite colours from the Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon collection. DSC_1028

As many of you know, all of Bite Beauty’s products are good enough to eat and made with gluten-free, food-grade ingredients and are free of polybutenes, sulfates, and petroleum byproducts.

The Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayons are highly pigmented, very moisturizing and comfortable even if it’s matte. According to Sephora’s website, “the secret is the moisture-locking power of orange peel wax along with the antioxidant properties of resveratrol.”

Because of the matte/creamy consistency, it is long wearing but not drying. It does have a slight sheen when first applied but it dries down to a matte finish throughout the day.

It has a citrus-y vanilla scent. If you are someone who’s sensitive about scents on lip products you don’t need to worry because the scent almost completely disappears when the lip color sets.

These are my most reached for colours from the collection:

Holy Grail Spot Treatment

So dry yet so spotty! A combination of winter dehydrated skin and random spots during PMS time-that’s my skin. I put a lot of creams and products on my skin to try and test out which works best. Some have come and gone, yet some stayed strong on the skincare game.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil has been in the game for several years now and I am not planning on replacing this simply because it works! This stuff basically clears up my skin and prevents ‘already-there’ spots from evolving into a ginormous zit!

Some people have been put off because of the fact that this tiny 10 mL bottle only has 15% tea tree oil. I honestly don’t know why The Body Shop decided to put only that amount. Personally, I don’t mind because the formula itself works fine. There must be a perfectly good reason why they didn’t make it 100% tea tree oil.

I would normally use it right after washing my face or after a serum or essence. I inspect my face and dot the tea tree oil using a clean finger and pat it only on the problem areas or red bumps and spots that would potentially develop into an acne.

A little goes a long way. I usually do 2 to 3 drops and that would be enough for all the spots in my face. I find that it works best on spots that are just starting to develop. Right when I apply it, I feel a tingling effect that also soothes the itchiness. I let it sit for about 3 to 5 minutes until it dries and continue with my skincare routine.

It doesn’t miraculously clear up your skin overnight but I notice that the bumps never grow bigger when I apply this.Spots are also less visible or gone after about 2 to 3 days.

I highly recommend this to all skin types who are looking for a good spot treatment!

February Beauty Faves

FebFaves2016I have been using and loving the same products I have reviewed in my blog. So I might sound redundant for posting this. But these are what I have been reaching for this past month.

  1. FIRST AID BEAUTY ULTRA REPAIR CREAM – When I said I’ll buy a bigger size I actually meant it. This thing has been my go to moisturizer for my uber parched skin not only for my face but also for the whole body! Check out my review of first aid beauty products here.
  2. PHYSICIANS FORMULA EYE BOOSTER 2 IN 1 EYELINER IN BROWN – I recently did a blog post about this eyeliner here but I’ve been loving the brown version for a more subtle cat eye look. The ultra black can be a little too dramatic for an everyday look that’s why I’ve been reaching for this one most this past month. It’s smudge proof and budge proof. Best eye liner at the drugstore!
  3. COLOURPOP ULTRA MATTE LIP + BITE BEAUTY BUTTER CREAM LIPSTICKS – This combo made the Colourpop liquid lipsticks work for me. I loved the color selection of these liquid lipsticks but they are very matte and could be very drying. Topping it off with a hydrating and creamy lipstick like the Bite Beauty Butter Cream ones made it so much comfortable.

The combination just gives a matte to satin finish that is very wearable and moisturizing.

Inside My Travel Makeup Bag

I brought a few makeup bits to my recent winter trip to Blue Mountain and thought I would share them with you guys!

1. Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara – As always, my top-shelf, fave mascara of the moment. When I travel, I tend to stick to the products that I know are reliable and this is one of them. Read my review here.

2. Shu Uemura Lash Curler – This is an essential. I never wear mascara without a lash curler.

3. Tony Moly Auto Eyebrow Easy Touch –  I probably wouldn’t leave the house without putting something on my brows. The packaging has been battered, I know. It shows how much I love this product. It’s such a fuss-free eyebrow pencil that works!

4. Physicians Formula Eye Booster™2-in-1 Lash Boosting Eyeliner + Serum in Brown– I didn’t wanna worry about my eye makeup while I was there enjoying the snow, but I still wanted to look put together. This is the best solution to that. Since it doesn’t smudge and stays on all day, I didn’t need to worry about it. I also did a review comparing it to the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner here.

5. Physicians Formula Eye Booster™2-in-1 Lash Boosting Ergonomic Felt-Tip Eyeliner + Serum – Why would I bring 2 eyeliners to a trip? I don’t know either. I have yet to test this out a little longer because Tati Westbrook loved it. I’m still not convinced it is as good as the one above it. But I agree that it’s easier to use.

6. Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water (waterproof version) – Since I couldn’t bring my trusty cleansing oil, I brought this instead and I must say I am impressed. I takes off all the above mentioned makeup items that are mostly waterproof AND it doesn’t sting my eyes which is my number 1 issue with makeup removers. Bringing this huge bottle was all worth it.
